Remplaçant à deux reprises sur les trois derniers matchs, l’avant-centre a retrouvé sa place de titulaire en attaque en demi-finale face à la RD Congo. C’est lui qui a d’ailleurs délivré la Côte d’Ivoire avec son premier but de cette édition, soit le deuxième de sa carrière à la CAN. Une belle petite délivrance pour le joueur.
« On se dit « ouf » parce qu’on concrétise une domination dans le jeu. J’ai raté une occasion en première mi-temps. On se dit que le match on l’a rendu plus facile en marquant le premier but. C’est une petite délivrance. On pense à la joie que ça procure à tout le staff, aux coéquipiers, aux gens dans le stade et derrière leur écran », a témoigné Sébastien Haller en conférence de presse, lui qui a connu des moments de stress lors des matchs précédents depuis le banc de touche.
« Je comprends les Ivoiriens qui stressent devant le match parce que j’ai vécu le début de la compétition sur le banc. Ça fait plaisir de voir que le travail porte ses fruits. », a-t-il ajouté.
