De quoi ravir forcément l’attaquant du Borussia Dortmund pour qui « la sélection c’est un plus, ce n’est pas comme un club où on peut changer tous les 6 mois ».
« Une sélection ça ne se représente pas à chaque moment de notre carrière donc c’est un plus, on représente énormément de personne et c’est une fierté d’être là à chaque rendez-vous », a déclaré Haller. Porter le maillot d’une sélection, « c’est forcément des responsabilités qui arrivent parce qu’on se doit de représenter le maillot comme il le faut, on est médiatisé, on est l’image du pays donc on se doit de donner le meilleur de nous-mêmes », a-t-il poursuivi.
La Côte d’Ivoire étant le pays hôte de cette CAN 2023, le Eléphants ont la responsabilité de réussir leur tournoi selon Sébastien Haller. « On a beaucoup d’anciens joueurs qui auraient voulu être a notre place, c’est pour ça que c’est important de réaliser la chance qu’on a de jouer une CAN dans notre pays. On sait tout ce que le pays a à offrir et à nous de redonner un peu cette chance qu’on a de jouer à domicile.
