Le Nigéria a validé son ticket pour la finale de la CAN 2023 le mercredi 07 février 2024. Ceci en s’imposant 4 – 2 face à l’Afrique du Sud à l’issue des tirs aux buts au stade de la paix de Bouaké. Ainsi, les Super Eagles affronteront en finale la Côte d’Ivoire, tombeuse de la RDC en demi-finale.
Pour cette confrontation inédite entre le Nigéria et la Côte d’Ivoire, Rio Ferdinand a décidé de supporter les Super Eagles. Il l’a fait savoir sur les réseaux sociaux notamment sa page X. Et ce, en postant une photo de lui avec le maillot du Nigéria en main. Un maillot floqué en son nom. Le duel entre le Nigéria et la Côte d’Ivoire est prévu pour le dimanche 11 février 2024 au Stade Alassane Ouattara d’Ebimpe.
