Pris par ses fonctions de sélectionneur adjoint de l’Arabie Saoudite, Yaya Touré n’a pas pu faire le déplacement pour cette CAN 2023. L’ancien milieu de terrain suit tout de même de près le parcours des Éléphants à la compétition. « Je suis très fier de vous les gars, très content de votre amélioration et de votre évolution pendant ce tournoi. Je vous dis merci pour tout le plaisir que vous donnez au peuple ivoirien et aussi à nous les fans parce qu’en tant que ex joueur aujourd’hui, je suis un fan comme les autres et je tiens à vous dire merci », a déclaré Yaya Touré dans une vidéo sur les réseaux sociaux.
Le champion d’Afrique 2015 avec les Éléphants annoncent son absence à la finale de ce dimanche 11 février 2023. « Très fier de votre évolution et aussi un peu déçu parce que malheureusement pour une raison d’obligation je ne pourrai pas être là avec vous physiquement, mais je serai avec vous dans l’esprit. Et en premier, vous apporter toute ma force possible pour que cette CAN et ce trophée reste au pays. Je tiens vraiment à vous féliciter pour tout le parcours très difficile, très périlleux mais à la fin qui donne le sourire à tout le monde, aux fans, au peuple et aussi à nous », a-t-il poursuivi avant de conclure : .
