En mars 2011, Max-Alain Gradel faisait ses débuts avec la Côte d’Ivoire contre le Bénin. 13 ans plus tard, il joue son dernier match en sélection face à la même sélection béninoise ce samedi. A l’issue de la rencontre qui s’est soldée sur le score de 2-2 entre Eléphants et Guépards, Max-Alain Gradel a rendu grâce à Dieu. Pour lui, commencer et terminer sa carrière internationale par la même équipe, n’est que l’œuvre de Dieu.
« C’est la grâce de Dieu comme on le dit. En plus finir avec un but, c’est magnifique, je suis très très content et je rends gloire à Dieu pour tout ce qu’il m’a permis de réaliser. », a-t-il déclaré.
Certes il met fin à sa carrière internationale, mais il continuera par jouer au football de haut niveau. Sous contrat avec le club turc de Gaziantep jusqu’en 2025, le double champion d’Afrique pense aller au terme de son engagement. « J’ai un contrat en club que je compte honoré. Je vais prendre du plaisir avec mon club et essayer de profiter au maximum avec ma famille », a-t-il conclu.
