Deux véhicules de grand luxe dérobés qui étaient en route vers le Moyen-Orient (Dubai), ont été restitués à leurs propriétaires, qui ne sont autres que des footballeurs évoluant en Premier League.
En 2023, l’Unité de renseignement sur les véhicules volés (SVIU) relevant de la police de l’Essex a mis au jour une découverte significative, des véhicules et des composants d’une valeur totale de plusieurs millions de livres sterling. Parmi ces biens, se trouvent des acquisitions luxueuses réalisées par des footballeurs évoluant dans l’élite du football anglais (Premier League), selon le média « football365 ».
Elles ont été localisées à l’intérieur de conteneurs d’expédition destinés à être acheminés vers le Moyen-Orient depuis le port de London Gateway à Thurrock. Bien que les noms des joueurs concernés ne soient pas divulgués, il semblerait qu’il s’agisse de joueurs internationaux renommés.
Le constable Phile Pentelow, membre de l’Unité de soutien aux victimes et aux témoins (SVIU), a également partagé son expérience concernant la restitution d’un bien très précieux à l’une des stars sportives : « Il a exprimé sa sincère reconnaissance et s’est montré surpris par l’ampleur de nos efforts. Sa voiture avait une valeur sentimentale considérable pour lui, et il a été grandement impressionné par le service fourni par la police. Même s’il joue pour l’un des plus grands rivaux de mon équipe, il s’est révélé être une personne sympathique et terre à terre. Nous étions ravis de pouvoir l’assister ».
